SHAPE - Season 4

As a photographer, I’ve always seen beauty differently. Even as a kid, I was drawn to the kind of beauty that made you feel something—not just what was trendy, but what was powerful. Over time, I realized how much of our self-worth is shaped by what the world shows us. And too often, what we’re shown is one-dimensional, unrealistic, and exclusionary. That’s where this campaign was born—not just from pain, but from passion. From the urge to take the very tools that once made people feel less-than and flip the script. To use photography, fashion, and storytelling not to diminish—but to restore. SHAPE stands for Simply, Human, Advocating Positivity, Everywhere. But it’s more than a phrase—it’s purpose. It’s healing. It’s representation that says: You belong here. Just as you are. The women in this campaign are not broken—they’re exceptional. They’re layered, confident, complex. And they reflect so many people in the world. Through every frame and every story, The Shape Campaign challenges the idea that beauty should be concealed, plastic, or silenced. We’re not asking for permission. We’re commanding attention. This is how we reclaim the lens—and the faces of beauty. This is The Shape Campaign.

From surviving an assault at just 14, coerced by someone she trusted, to being dismissed by members of her own church, Brittney’s story is one of deep pain, but also incredible strength. In this raw episode of The Shape Campaign, she shares how silence shaped her early years, and what it means to speak out now.
Brittney also reflects on navigating relationships as an adult, the moment she realized her story mattered, and the lessons she’s passing on to her son, who is autistic, curious, and learning to advocate for himself just like she is.
This isn’t just a story about trauma. It’s a story about survival, truth, and the power of saying: I believe in me, even if no one else does.

Janice grew up in a household full of powerful women, raised in Connecticut by her mother, with her sister. Janice began to struggle with alcohol—something she now openly names and owns: “I was an alcoholic.” Her journey through addiction wasn’t just about drinking; it was about trying to silence pain, perfectionism, and unmet expectations.
In this deeply personal episode of The Shape Campaign, Janice reflects on her relationship with alcohol and her evolving connection with her father. Through honesty, accountability, and grace, she is learning what it truly means to reclaim her voice, her power, and her peace.
Whether you’ve faced addiction, grief, or the pressure to be strong all the time—Janice’s story is a reminder that healing is never linear, but always worth it. For resources or support, visit Alcoholics Anonymous (AA).

In this powerful episode, Moriah opens up about the complexities of identity, family, and the fight to reclaim her health. Raised in Wisconsin, she grew up with a quiet strength—one shaped by the divorce of her parents and her own struggle with multiple eating disorders, including anorexia, bulimia, and orthorexia. What’s even more unique? Her father also struggled with anorexia in his youth and now advocates for awareness—proving that healing is not just personal, but generational. For resources or support, visit the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA).

In this episode of The Shape Campaign, Shy opens up about the pressure of growing up too fast, her close bond with her mother, and how traditional values shaped her beliefs about love. She challenges today’s “50/50” relationship narratives and unapologetically shares her vision of partnership — one rooted in provision, protection, and rest. With bold clarity and soft strength, Shy reminds us that embracing femininity, legacy, and standards doesn’t make you old-fashioned — it makes you self-aware. Her story is about choosing what feels right for you, even when it goes against modern noise.

In this raw and powerful episode of The Shape Campaign, Arica opens up about the hidden pain behind her past and the strength it took to break free. From childhood sexual abuse to using sex as a coping mechanism, Arica candidly describes how trauma shaped her early years and how therapy, life coaching, and purpose gave her a path to healing.
After losing both her brother and her mother just four months apart. Consumed by grief, Arica is using her story to inspire others. She's an author, a speaker, and a woman reclaiming her voice, one truth at a time.
Arica’s story is a testament to the power of survival, transformation, and purpose. She proves that even in the face of deep loss and betrayal, it’s never too late to rise.

The Shape Campaign Season 4 has officially wrapped, and I’m filled with gratitude. From Season 1 to now, this journey has been transformative. I've grown through mistakes, celebrated accomplishments, and remained committed to using photography, video, and storytelling to uplift and inspire. I thank God for the vision and the gift to create something bigger than myself.
To our incredible Season 4 women—Kayla, Brittney, Janice, Arica, Shy, and Moriah—thank you for trusting me with your personal stories. This campaign wouldn’t be possible without your courage and investment. You brought heart, beauty, and honesty to this platform. Your voices matter, and I’m honored to have shared them.
Thank you to my makeup and glam team: Asia, for traveling from Maryland to bring her artistry and spirit; and Moriah, for being both a contributor and a supporter behind the scenes.
Special thanks to Ashleigh Golson—my friend, sister, and one of the campaign’s original pioneers. Your unwavering belief and honest feedback have kept me grounded.
Gratitude to Jai'Kqwan Mcclenningham for consistent help and patience throughout production, and to Jalen Robinson, who captured powerful images of me that were essential to the campaign’s promotional materials. Though he didn’t photograph the participants, his work helped tell my story as the creator.
Thank you to Jim at Shadowbox Studio in Durham for your support in securing studio space and ensuring we had the resources to create something meaningful.
To every viewer, supporter, and follower of The Shape Campaign—thank you. Your encouragement fuels the mission: to redefine beauty through authenticity, representation, and empowerment. We’re not just telling stories; we’re changing narratives.
This campaign continues to affirm my purpose—to create art that celebrates identity, strength, and healing. I vow to keep going, to keep shining a light on women’s experiences, and to keep shaping a more inclusive world.
